The members of New York City's Epic Win Burlesque troupe are unabashedly nerdy, and often unabashedly naked...The show comes to a close (on the first night) with Star Trek edging out Star Wars in raffle ticket sales. Was it a pair of persuasive ta-tas or just William Shatner's intergalactic sex appeal? Either way, the Epic Win Burlesque members make an impressive case for both sides, with creative performances, good costuming (or lack thereof) and an indomitable nerd spirit.

If the New York Burlesque scene was a high school, Epic Win would be the Film club; the group of kids who spend their lunch hour watching movies, their class time quoting movies, and their weekends working on their costumes for the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Private Eyes is properly what you call "adult entertainment"; EPIC WIN Burlesque is what you call "alt art-ertainment." The former is for men who are old enough to grow hair on their backs; the latter is for kids of any age (over 18) who love boobies and gadgets with equal ardor.

At the other end of the spectrum is Epic Win Burlesque, a nerd-themed night that started as a goof in 2009. "Magdalena Fox told us about a Lara Croft number she was planning," remembers co-producer Nelson Lugo, who launched this sporadic show with Schäffer the Darklord. "I jokingly said we’d produce a video-game burlesque show just to feature this one act."
